Decorating & Painting
Preparation is the job. Paint is the last four hours of it.
Decorating & Painting in London
Anyone can roll a wall. The result comes from everything that happens before the tin is opened.
A decorating job is roughly eighty per cent preparation. Filling, sanding, caulking, stabilising a chalky old surface, cutting out and repairing cracked plaster, and masking properly. Skip any of it and the paint will faithfully reproduce every defect underneath in a slightly glossier finish.
We decorate domestic and commercial property across London — a single room, a whole house after a renovation, a rental turnaround between tenancies, or an office and retail unit that needs to be back open on Monday. Dust extraction on the sanders, floors and furniture protected, and a site left clean at the end of each day rather than at the end of the job.

What you get
How we approach it
Proper preparation
Cracks cut out and filled rather than skimmed over, joints taped, chalky surfaces stabilised with the correct primer, and everything sanded flat with dust extraction.
Spray finishes where they belong
Joinery, doors, wardrobes and ceilings sprayed for a flawless finish, with everything else masked to a standard that makes it possible.
Correct systems
Breathable paints on lime plaster and solid walls, moisture-resistant systems in bathrooms and kitchens, and the right primer for MDF, new plaster, bare timber and metal.
Clean working
Dust sheets, floor protection, sealed doorways and a daily clean-down. You should be able to use the rest of the house normally.
Before you start
Timing and conditions
The items below are where projects most often stall. We raise them at survey stage, not halfway through.
New plaster needs to dry
Four weeks is a fair rule before a full paint system goes on fresh plaster. Painting it too early traps moisture and the finish flakes.
Exterior season
Masonry and timber want dry weather and surface temperatures above about 8°C. Booking exterior work for November and expecting a spring finish rarely ends well.
Lead paint
Pre-1980 properties can have lead in the original paint layers. It is not burnt off or dry-sanded — it is dealt with properly.
Colour in the actual room
Sample boards viewed in the room at different times of day, not chips viewed in a shop. North-facing London rooms are unforgiving of warm whites.

Decorating & Painting — your questions answered
The questions we are asked most often about this service. If yours is not here, call us — we would rather answer it now than after you have committed.
We can supply at trade rates or work with what you have chosen. Either way we will advise on the correct system for the surface, which matters more than the brand on the tin.
Full redecoration including preparation is typically two to three weeks. A single room with sound walls is two to three days.
Yes, and most of our domestic work is done that way. We work room by room with sealed zones so the rest of the house stays usable.
Minor filling and crack repair is included as preparation. Where a ceiling or wall needs re-skimming we price it separately and tell you before starting rather than painting over a problem.
